Saigon Raiders Club

When news about a fixture cancellation reached the Raiders, a big **sigh** could be heard all over Saigon. But, as the great community (with great members) the Saigon Raiders are, we managed to gather 22 players. Shout out to Clemens and #WeSports for gathering external players to help out.

With team members gathered, everybody was psyched to play some football. Clemens, Hoggy and Coach Collin picked out two teams from the player pool, and the match could start. Three halves, each 20 minutes long.

The white team consisted of: Keeper – the referee stepped in. An ex-vietnamese professional. In the back: Scotty, Daniel Vo and Ohashi. Midfield: Ben Rubes, Mike Owen, Patrick, Rich and a long awaited comeback from Sipho. Upfront was Hoggy and Arvin.

The red team was: Keeper – Clemens Vietnamese friend. In the back: Coach Collin, Jerry (Jeroen) Junior and other Jeroen. On the midfield were Vincent, Jon (player of the month hehe) and Clemens’ two Korean friends. Up top was the Dutch duo Edwin aka. T-rex and Wouter.

It was a hot day at the Chu Van An pitch. With few clouds and litte wind: the mood was set. But every Raider was ready.
The game started off well for both teams. After 10 minutes, the whites scores. Arvin, King of the North, managed to poke it past the keeper, with a fantastic pass by Mike Owen. Raiders red took the punch and swung it around after the first break. After some great play, the ball lands at Clemens’ feet, and he bangs it in. 1-1.

From that point on, the whites won more and more ground. With some amazing passes in the midfield, totally splitting the Reds apart, Patrick managed to tap it in. With the morale high, the whites used their momentum to make it 3-1. Rich with a tremendous strike from the right. Not long after, Hoggy was played in by Mike Owen, and as the cold-blooded striker Hoggy is…….. he made an OK goal.

A key figure on the Red team was Clemens. 4-1 down, he decided to take matters into his own hands. With a BRILLIANT pass from Jon, Clem turned around, moving the ball to his dangerous left foot, and banged it in the far left corner. Goal of the day. 4-2.

But…. As a nail in the coffin, Patrick, the Greenlandic newcomer, did it to the reds. Chipped the keeper – 5-2.

As the Raiders are original founded as a Danish-ish team, the last part will be in Danish.

Først of fremmest, tak for at læse dette.

God klaret min ven!!!

Okay, you can throw that in to the translator.

First of all, thank you for reading this. It’s nice to see that there is someone who likes to read with.

All in all, this friendship match was a good opportunity for young and old to get a little bit moved. Most participants took after the match at #HeartOfDarkness where match players and match #Turkey were appointed. Patrick, who played his first match for Saigon Raiders, snatched the game’s play for the white ones. Clemens, with two goals, one of which was, in my opinion, the best goal scored in the match, got the match’s play for the red. The match #Turkey was given to Jon, to burn in front of a goalkeeper lying on the ground. Yes, it can be discussed how deserved it was, but what the hell.

The month’s player for September was also nominated. It was given to Jon. Like the amazing person and soccer player Jon, he deserves this award. He has given (almost) 100% to each match and to each training. Good done my friend !!!

Next week awaits another friendly that Clemens and #WeSport has arranged. Thank you for reading,

EN GANG RAIDERS, ALTID RAIDERS!!!
