The match day began with some thrilling rap/reggae or whatever genre of music being played by someone on our team. This definitely set the tone for the day and really provided me and I’m sure all of us with exuberant energy. The day was hot (per the usual) and my skin was burnt upon being in the sun for less than 2 seconds (per the usual), however, that wasn’t going to stop me or any of us from having a great game! Well, that was true for the most part before some turkey guy decided to be the only one to play like he hadn’t ever touched a football in his life. The game started with 1, then 2 then 3, 4, and 5 goals. The opponent clearly wasn’t a match for the Saigon Raiders as their defense was way too spread out and allowed many opportunities for us to breach through and complete the finishing touch. The keeper on their end was having a bad day conceding many goals beyond his control, whilst our keeper wasn’t getting any sort of action to the point where he could have gone for a beer break and no one would have noticed. As a team, we were playing very coherently and managed to keep the ball for long periods of time with most players being critical with their finishes and producing accurate passes, up until the first round of subs came on. All the subs were great, except for the turkey guy I don’t really know him, but around 4 minutes after coming on he had an opportunity that even Raheem the Dream would banged inside of the net. The distance to the goal was without a doubt less than one meter. To defend him though, it is fair to consider that the ball was bouncing on the sand and he hit the bottom of the ball as a result of the bounce. Let’s not forget that the score was around 6-0 so he definitely felt bad and wanted to try a cross-bar challenge due to the copious amounts of sorrow felt towards the opponents. The second half came around starting with the initial 11 that started the game. It started with the scoreline of 7-0 where our great, absolutely amazing coach decided to place a 5 pass rule in their half before scoring after we scored 2 more goals. We then did so, however, the two main highlights of the second half were Magnus’ free-kick recreation of Kane’s penalty vs France in the euro’s, essentially seeming as if he was aiming for the moon. That was not it though, as the turkey decided to do the exact same thing but from 5 meters out also skying it beyond what the eye can capture. The game ended with a score of 9-1, unfortunately conceding a deciding goal in the last minute. We paid our respects to the opponents as no matter the level a team can be, no disrespect is tolerated.
