Saigon Raiders Club

Written by this week’s Turkey moment owner, Miquel Perez.

Sunny Saturday afternoon showing in the Ky Hoa hard artificial grass pitch and few clouds showing around even no rain preview.

Thirteen Raiders arranged to the match against the local team, after a warm up game starting, today a new goalkeeper for the team. After a few chances, good passes from middlemen and after a good centered ball from Rasul there is the first goal coming from Nico.

This was the result of several chances and few “slightly” unclear off sides with a linesman in doubtful position. Nowadays, a second good deep ball allows Nico to come inside their area where an opponent concedes a penalty for Raiders scored for the 0-2 up to half time.

Second half starting and had a bit of defense disorder from our side, and we receive few clear chances with long balls passing by our defense, seems a goal against is approaching. Not one but two were the ones which moved in for the draw result, after a clear “moving post” did not allow the third Raiders goal to come from an occasional striker missing the pass from Mike.

A last third goal for Raiders allow the victory to come, even few more runs and long balls from the rivals which keep pushing our side of the pitch on several times. Referee shows usual standards and rain appears to refresh once last shot was thrown.

Man of the Match: Stefan: Lung-busting stuff on the wings

Turkey Moment: Miquel: His usual calm deserted him.

PatCartierCoach Pat’s verdict

Positives:

  • The first fifteen minutes, excellent ball movement coupled with great running lead to an early goal.
  • The three defenders played well together during most of the game.
  • Wing play, up and down the pitch, Stefan, Seamus, and Rasul covered great ground.

Negatives:

  • Gesturing at the referee and muttering words like you are implying he has some sort of disorder…
  • Overall fitness level: we played well in the first half, then our fitness let us down in the second half and we gave up our lead.
  • Touches: we’re still taking too many in the midfield. The players play there, play there for a reason, get it and give it, then move on.
