The game the metropolis was waiting for. Raiders were ready to battle on a rainy Saturday. Good thing Craig got us some tight neoprene suits.
The first 30 minutes were definitely the best for the Raiders. Players showed a good understanding with each other, quality passing, and a winning attitude. This led to two Hoggy goals in the first half. First goal came after a long pass by Stephan. Hoggy believed, ran for it, and won the battle against the defender and the goalie.
The second and last goal of the game was pure class. It started with Stephan deflecting the ball to the left side. Scottio Ramos controlled it and passed it on to Ben, who quickly gave it to Hoggy. Showing his first touch class, Hoggy passed it back to Clem, who passed it back to Tam. The big guy crossed it over to die deutsche maschine, who with no sign of fatigue decided to go for a sprint. While on it Vince wall passed with Thijs, and centered the football to Hoggy who with a terrific header sent it to the back of the net. Barça style kind of play.
The second half was not as tough as the Raiders expected it to be. Hotshots barely had chances to score.
Only two things worth mentioning. The brutal slide of Butcher Kevin to Stephan which got him sent off. And the relay race that Coach Colin organized the last five minutes of the game. Some say he holds the Guinness record for most substitutions in a game after this.
Overall the Raiders were physically strong, confident keeping the ball in their feet at times, but most importantly determined to win as a team. Hoping to see this winning strike continuing until Aron, Clem and Vince organize another pool party.
Big up for SIFL and WeSport for live-streaming the game.
Vamos Raiders que se puede!
