Saigon Raiders continued their perfect start to the pre-season campaign with a 4-0 win. The much deserved end result didn’t reflect our dominance throughout.
This is a win that was mirrored with several missed opportunities in front of goal to better the score line. The sunny afternoon bought to a close our final pre-season game. With the start of the game having most of our defence not arriving, we made do with a makeshift defence with the opposition having only 10 players and Victor making up the final 11 spot for the opposition.
Kick off! And the first half was an average collective performance from the Raiders but dominated throughout. The score was still 0-0 and as a team knew we hadn’t exerted as much as we could have. Guido having the only shot on target with a long range effort. It was a complete turnaround in the second half with the Raiders having more clear cut chances to score even missing two very good opportunities to break the deadlock. (During this spell even our goalkeeper David playing with a cat having nothing to do for most of the second half). Eventually Jonas scoring the first then Clemens, Jonas again and Wouter to finish things off (Not sure in which order!).
A lot to learn from this performance in term of fitness and being more clinical in crucial moments of the game. Nevertheless it was a good win that ended with downpour of rain as soon as the ref blew for the final whistle. This result is always good for morale but in the end was a lot to learn to get the final cobwebs out of our system and get ready for the long season ahead.
Welcome back to club captain Clemens for his first appearance of the season ahead in the second half and bagging an assist! Welcome back to Vincent for his first appearance back to the Raiders, bagging an assist also! With the final assists coming from Hung and Emmanuel!
Man of the match went to Emmanuel voted by the team and his performance reflected the outcome of the match great work and let’s all work hard for the upcoming season!
Come on Raiders!!!!
