On the 14th of April Raiders played the Saints. The eternal rival was ready for battle on this piping hot afternoon at Chu Van An. Despite a lot of key Raiders missing, a strong first 11 made their way on the pitch.
Raiders started well from the 1st minute leading to a number of chances. Two one-on-one chances in the first 15-20 minutes led to the self-nomination of this Turkey. Luckily Dan, assisted by the Turkey, did have his shooting boots on and made 1-0 for the Raiders.
The Raiders were playing comfortably and everyone was waiting for the second goal to hit the net. Unfortunately, it turned the other way. A wonderful long-distance goal from the Saints put them back in the game leaving the Raiders fatigued. Mirko just got injured 5 minutes before the first Saints goal and therefore couldn’t give his best anymore.
The second and third Saints goals weren’t that pretty, but did the job. After that, Daniel Vo came in for Mirko, who couldn’t continue anymore. Following that, a superb long-distance goal from Dutchy Clemens making it 2-3 gave the Raiders some new energy, but it wasn’t enough to circumvent this sad sad loss.
The 14th of April is day to forget, because it was an unnecessary loss against a rival, and a game to remember, we need to refocus and give more than ever in the coming games to (re)claim the title that belongs to only one team this year, The Raiders. The next game the Raiders will sing!
